Happy Birthday, Baby

Wise Readers,

A year ago this Friday, a new kind of advice column was born: Love Science.  Although editors had recommended the standard opinion format, I had something new in mind—the concept that six decades of ongoing relationship science could form an entertaining, useful and, most important, valid basis for Research-Based Relationship Advice For Everyone.

But would readers agree that science has something to offer beyond mere opinion’s realm?  Would they trust me enough to submit their own problems for consideration?  Would they comment afterwards—not with the usual Internet vitriol, but with human contact and thoughtful observations?  Heck—would they read the thing at all?!   The resounding answers, then and now, are:  Yes.  They—You—would, did, do.  And so, starting from five months of piloted columns at Facebook, Love Science formally launched at www.LoveScienceMedia.com in late May, 2009.

By June, Amazon.com had invited Love Science Media to begin publishing for Kindle.  Within a month, Love Science had gained Amazon’s best-selling position for Life & Love, relationship, dating, marriage, and advice categories, where it has remained ever since.  It also continues to hold a top-3 position for all behavioral sciences, as well as a top-25 spot in the entirety of the sciences.   And it is the second-highest-ranked of all 8,750 blogs Amazon carries.

So thank you, Wise Readers, for supporting Love Science with your enthusiastic attention, re-posts, comments, forwarded links, and private letters.  Baby is thriving, and she could not have done it without you.  You are appreciated more than I can express.

And if you’d like to celebrate with me, I have a request:

Would you send the main link or a favorite Love Science article link to just one person you know who doesn’t already read it?

Then it’ll be fun to see how much Baby has grown again by this time next year.  Thank you again.  Happy Valentine’s Month, all.  And…Happy Birthday, Baby.

Cheers,

Duana

Duana,

Congratulations! I knew Love Science was great, but did not know how many others appreciate it. What an accomplishment!

I am forwarding the link to a friend right now.

Fondly,
Lisa D.

Thank you so much, Ms. Lisa D. Baby's growth has surprised me as well. Thank you for helping her progress to toddlerhood, lol. Let's see how many others there are out there who Love Science.
